Physical Description: Tachibana would be the type of guy that women love to grope - think Fireman Calendar - except for these two facts:
1) He's lazy and self-defeatist so doesn't work out as much as he should; thus at his age, he's already got the beginnings of a paunch, even though he's not overweight.
2) He enjoys not shaving, and somehow considers this a sexy (maybe Don Johnson?-esque) look. Really it just makes him look like a middle-aged bum, neither of which he is.
He has short dark bishie-hair and dark eyes, is tall but not too tall, and quite handsome (when he shaves and gets his act together).

Personality: Tachibana is the male equivalent of a bitter old maid--at the age of 32. In spite of being from a rich family and being both smart and handsome, he has had absolutely shit luck with women in his life. He hasn't given up, but he pretends that he's given up on relationships, just pursuing women for sex.

Because this is not who he really is, he mostly just drools over and makes sexist remarks (to other men) about certain women, but never actually does anything. When he flirts, he tends to fail miserably because his new Don Johnson look makes most women think he's a dirty old man.

Tachibana is an excellent salesman, and when he 'turns it on', he can sell ice to the eskimos. In fact, he's good at absolutely everything he throws himself into...except where relating to other human beings is concerned.

In spite of generally coming off as an ass and a loser, Tachibana has a big heart which he wears on his sleeve. His gruff act is just a wall he puts up to protect himself from getting hurt. His efficience and aptitude are also an act he puts on to fool people into thinking he has it together and is "okay," an act he's been putting on since he was a little boy so as not to make his loved ones worry.

Tachibana is not okay. What disturbs him the most about this is that he has absolutely no memory of what exactly happened to make him this way. To this day, he regularly has night terrors about his forgotten experience, but they are not illuminating. (See history)

Strengths: Tachibana is good at everything to which he applies himself. He's a hard worker when it counts--a born workaholic really--and he always gets the job done. He's smart as hell and has an almost photographic memory.

Weaknesses: Tachibana lives alone inside himself. Because he's been pretending to be okay for so long, he doesn't know who he is, and when he reaches out to others, they instinctively sense he's hiding something, and the inherent hollowness about him. This most often results in mistrust rather than pity. He's never emotionally present, therefore he comes off as fake.

Tachibana is also very melodramatic and indecisive. Because he doesn't know who he is, he tends to make life-altering decisions at the drop of a hat. He doesn't care about anything--including his work--very much, therefore abandoning something major is not a big deal to him.

Oh, and boobs. 8D
Like many heterosexual men, Tachibana has a moderate breast fetish.

History: Tachibana was born the only son of a wealthy, loving family. At the age of 6, he was abducted by a dirty old man and held captive for one month. From this time, all Tachibana remembers is that his kidnapper loved decadent sweets, and fed him expensive cakes and pastries every day. Because of this, these foods make him literally vomit now.

After a month, the kidnapper deposited him back on the street near his home. He never asked for ransom or left any explanation. He was never apprehended.

When he came back home, Tachibana worked hard to put on a brave face for his family, especially his mother. When she baked a cake for his birthday a few months later, he happily ate it, and then ran to the bathroom to puke his guts out in secret. He's done this his whole life, but his family still worries about him, constantly checking up on him and watching over him to make sure he stays safe (even though he is now in his 30s).

A few years after he was abducted, his mother hired a new housekeeper who came to live with them, along with her son Chikage. Tachibana developed a close friendship with the older boy, who bonded to him in a master-servant way (no, not bondage, you perverts!). Outwardly it seems as though Tachibana is the one looking after the dull-witted but well-meaning Chikage, but in fact it's the other way around. Chikage is the only person who's seen Tachibana's true face.

Tachibana has made several major vocational shifts in his short life, all of them due to a sudden need to avoid women who have dumped him or refused his offers of marriage. His last and most successful career was in the corporate headquarters of his family's company. When he quit that, he informed his parents he wanted to open a pastry shop and make it the best in the city.

His gimmick was to buy an old antique shop and turn it into a bakery. All of the dinnerware used to serve customers is antique and one of a kind. He hired the best patissier he could afford, who just happened to be the same young man who confessed his love to Tachibana on their senior graduation day from high school. Considering at the time he told Ono that he made him sick and should go die, Tachibana was a bit chagrined to see him again. But they have managed to work together halfway decently, considering Tachibana's homophobia and Ono's...er. Well, that's another story.

Right now Tachibana runs a tight, successful ship in Soba with only three employees: Ono, Chikage (who he put to work as a waiter since he's always following Tachibana around anyway), and Eiji, the apprentice patissier. Though he has told no one, Tachibana hopes to lure his kidnapper so that he can find out just what happened when he was abducted.
